Unlike many kitchen dealers who are unfamiliar with appliance specs and features, the family-owned Howard's Kitchen Studio has been in the appliance business since owner Mark Kaplan's father, Howard, started his first appliance and hardware store around 1915.
A lot has changed since then. Appliances have panels to blend in with the surrounding cabinets. Cooktops are also griddles, grills, and woks. Ranges once only seen in restaurant kitchens are now the focal point in the home's kitchen. Some appliances don't even look like appliances; refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, and oven warmers are now configured as drawers.
